(this takes place close to the end of the events described in the FG game session that took place Tues Sept 8th 2010 , before Cyameil visited the group and after the battle with the draconians but BEFORE you break camp to rest for the night.. in other words this takes place before this forum RP thread

You walk towards the swamps , one whimpering draconian in tow holding his hand over the ruined jelly-like mess that used to be his right eye... Grusk and Trusk walk close to Rin, the two hobgoblins alternating between praising Rin and pestering him for tips...
" That was AMAZING master ! You've already shown us how well you castrate, now you've shown us how to blind our foes ! Do we do it like this "
Grusk clumsily lashes out with his makeshift whip, a vine tied to a branch, attempting to hit a tree...
" We need to make some target dummies" mutters Trusk.. " Or we can use that one-eyed fool there as our target" ... the draconian, hearing this, whimpers again and shies away from Trusk.
Grusk gives Nine an embarassed look.. " Master.. we are sorry that we coudn't kill the.. lizard-man thing, whatever it was "
" Draconian" interrupts the captive in an agonized voice
" Be silent you ! " Grusk barks at the captive then continues "... draconian.. we tried but they're so damned slippery ! Even with one of us holding a lizard ma--- er, draconian... he would squirm and wiggle so much it was impossible to cut off his balls ! We have failed you and master Rin ".. Grusk looks down, ashamed...
Nine wasn't able to stop himself from glancing down fearfully at his testicles.. yes, still there, healed without so much as a single scratch.. thanks to that mysterious blue crystal staff - was it true? Were there really Gods of Light and Balance ? If so Nine owed them a world of thanks.. he tried to imagine going through life with his testicle sac torn open on both sides - even worse yet perhaps not healing properly .. and shuddered... Looking up he saw Za'era looking back at him....
Dark elf and surface elf... Nine has been regaled during his eight decades of life among his (wild elf) tribe about the psychotic, twisted reflections of surface elves that live beneath the surface.... these drow... yet when they spoke earlier, a year ago ... She seemed to be in a world of pain... the evil Nine expected was in there, part and parcel of the dark elf... yet she appears to struggle against it ...

"If I would want you dead then you would be dead by now or you would scream in agony because of the torture. I might be possessed but if this is the case and I find out that I am only a tool of Takhisis then you will be welcome to land the final blow. I have went through hell to get out of reach of her grasp but she seems to have grown strong enough to even reach into realms of the so called "good" races."
She moves over to the table right next to the elf and places her right hand on the table which looks slightly crippled. There are scars all over the hand and skin has grown together slightly different at some spots giving it a strange and weird look.
"THIS was done by one of your kin just because he enjoyed torturing me. I never harmed a helpless person nor showed ill thoughts."
She pulls up the sleeve and even more scars show up on her arm and seem not even to end there.
"This has been my mother and my sisters because I did not want to bow to Takhisis. They beat and tortured me to death multiple times."
She looks at the elf with still no emotions in her face.
"I lost my home, my family and my heritage to avoid darkness. Now tell me elf. Who bears more darkness. You or me?" )
Then when Nine tried to see past the traditional hatred surface and dark elves had for each other... her dark side appeared to come to the surface once more...
Nine: Walks towards Za'era and extends a hand, " thank you fellow elf, for your help and understanding, before and after the battle. I sense much troubles you and I feel with us, all things will be figured out. Even amidst the disfunction. "
Za'era looks up at Nine. "I dont care. You want to keep them alive? Then do so. Expect no sympathy from me elf."
She seemed more upset than anything else that their (now one-eyed) draconian captive was being kept alive ... but her manner towards him... did she genuinely dislike him or were her words nothing more than the sign of her own internal struggle? Nine thinks back on his own nightmarish past... his tribe , his family, murdered before his very eyes.... but for eighty years he had their love, their guidance... he tries to imagine a world like the one Za'era described to him.. one where she was beaten near to death and tortured by her mother and siblings, only to be rescued at the near brink of her demise so they could torture her further... the wild elf tries to imagine growing up like that... and fails utterly, it seems simply beyond comprehension.. no wonder she's messed up... Nine looks at Za'era's arms, remembering the scars she'd shown them all when she pulled up her sleeves and showed them a year ago ... and he thinks about what she said afterwards, about being further tortured and beaten by the elves of the surface... Nine knew them well, the Qualinesti and Silvanesti.. arrogant bastards who had forcibly tried to "civilize" the wild elves against their will ... he didn't find it too hard to believe either group of elves would resort to that sort of behavior against someone they regarded as a hated enemy...
(note, if Nine doesn't get a chance to respond to this Za'era made her upbringing by her family public knowledge in this thread

Rin eyes their captive... the draconian... if he had to guess the kenku would say he's familiar with just about every race of people to walk the face of Krynn.. and these lizard-men are the first he's ever seen of their kind... when he called on the magicks he'd been born with Rin had felt the familiar rush of power, shaped it ,directed it, THREW it at a draconian.. and felt the draconian " push " back somehow, resisting it.. Rin had mentally willed himself to push back even harder and had succeeded, his draconian had started laughing his ass off as Rin had intended... but it's the first time Rin has ever encountered this sort of.. for lack of a better word.. "magic resistance" ... before ... and this was definitely the first he'd heard of the enemy turning into a stone statue when they died only to crumble to dust a few minutes later.. he knew of the medusas, their ability to petrify their enemies with a glance.. but this was brand new to Rin.. he wondered what secrets their captive might unearth about this mysterious new race of beings if they questioned him... Judging from the draconian's frantic comments earlier on right after Rin and the others had won .. " Don't hurt me , I'll tell you everything you want to know ! " Rin was guessing questioning the thing wouldn't be too difficult...
Eolaer looked to the blue crystal staff gripped tightly in his hand... a holy relic, the sign of the return of the TRUE gods.. a sign that the golden knight of his dreams was true, no myth.. his salvation late at night during his childhood days as he cradled his injuries, compliments of beatings by the slavers who had raised him and treated him as little cattle ... then Eolaer looked back at Za'era.. he thought about the gem she held with the infinity sign, the same sign on the staff... he thought about what Rin had to say this "mishkaal", a goddess of healing, love, sensuality, fertility and feminine strength... the woman had been enslaved herself, by surface elves apparently.. perhaps that gave her and Eolaer common ground? But what had she been doing in the company of these "draconians"? She's already said she was struggling against the darkness within her, this "Takhisis" ... could she be trusted? But if she was with the enemy why was she carrying a gem with the mark of what was apparently one of the Gods of Light?
Adam watched the entire group massaging his temples.. despite all his years of discipline and training in the Forgotten Temple he felt a headache coming on .... it was going to take every ounce of his skill and effort to keep this little group from killing each other ..... the blue crystal staff was magical yes but did that necessarily mean "the return of the gods"? Surely it was simply some sort of wizardly creation .. perhaps this "Tower of High Sorcery" Reika had told him about might know more of the staff... He looked to Za'era, struggling with the darkness within her, thought about her crossbow held to the captive draconian's neck after the fight... he thought about his own daily struggle against the fiendish impulses within his soul..
