(this forum RP thread takes place during the events of the FG game session that took place this past Tuesday August 30th 2011) Rin and Serinda continued to face off.... Rin desperately wanting to go back and investigate the succubus-summoning room they'd encountered earlier... the same room with .. bodily juices... staining the floor, the same room that Fistaldanius, ancient Dark Robed wizard, evidently had dedicated to ... intimate practices.. with summoned succubi.. and Serinda adamantly insisting that it wasn't going to happen no matter how many times Rin asked... Zane, Draug and Udyr had left the two bickering comerades behind to go on exploring skullcap ... with Rin perhaps wondering if Serinda might be kind enough to ice up his sore and throbbing "little Rin".. or "big Rin" as the case might be.. ( and yes there is a reason why rin is this well endowed .. see
whatifdragonlancedm.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=worldinformation&action=display&thread=318 ) (DM Note - Rin isn't aware of this yet but Serinda froze everything in the succubus summoning room solid - everything is now frozen in a thick layer of ice ... from here Rin and Serinda can, if they wish, continue their argument - we can even go so far as to roll initiative if Rin tries to forcibly make his way past Serinda - heck I can even repost the relevant part of the map here on the forum if you like .. and I will if it comes to that ..
Also of note - see the house rules here :
whatifdragonlancedm.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=houserules&action=display&thread=117&page=2
reply sixteen on that thread - basically the stone golem used the " swing the body" feat on poor Rin and Serinda, using Rin as a weapon to do damage to Serinda by swinging Rin by his.. um.. equipment.. ) The stone golem had been.. unusual.. most stone golems would simply beat their victim to a pulp ... instead this one had grabbed Rin by the "equipment", swung him around as an improved weapon used against Serinda, then when Serinda tried to protect Rin in a globe of force the golem proceeded to bounce Rin up and down inside the ball ... then Rin could have sworn he heard the stone golem smugly comment that practioners of magic who learn the Art through hard work and study are superior to chaos magic "amateurs" who acquire their gifts naturally ... after that comment however no matter what Rin says or does he seems unable to provoke a reaction from the stone golem..

(here's the promised map of the area if it comes down to Rin vs Serinda should Rin try to run past the disapproving elven wizardess or use a suggestion spell on her or the like (will need people to roll initiative on the invisible castle dice roller and post the results on the forum if it comes to that though ) ... assume Rin and Serinda are both standing to the right of the ugly cyclops statue guy .. and assume the stone golem is standing right in front of ugly cyclops statue for simplicity's sake , that is don't take the stone golem that attacked Rin into account when moving around the room .. succubus summoning room is the bottom-most room on the map with the pentegram on it - all doors on the map now open, unlocked thanks to Draug and Rin )

"Look Serinda you want the truth, I wanted those books. They wouldn't do me any good I could learn the ritual sure, but I couldn't perform it. I've tried to learn magic from a book I can't. Even if I spent days or years trying to learn that I couldn't. I learn by watching it happen or experimenting. I'd have to see the ritual performed to even think about learning the magic behind it and even then I'd have to try and manipulate the magic from feel alone. I'm a bard and those books while no bard but myself could even try to think about using them, are still lore and knowledge."
Rin begins to stuff his friend back into it's proper place.
"I was pretty sure that if I told you why I wanted to stay behind you would have marched me out of that room at icicle point. So that's why I did this, not the best plan but at least we know these are golems and are easily stopped by my friend here or my chaos magic. Possibly even a combination. So may I go get those books. I can make sure the college gets rid of the spells in them, but the over all knowledge of the ritual must be documented. I didn't learn anything of this from the college but I did learn about it from the one who taught me how to reign in my magic."
A smug smirk crosses Rin's face as he looks to Serinda.
"You peeked in the room didn't you?"

Serinda shakes her head.
"No Rin, and you can't shock me, or embarrass me into giving in. You sound like the tower, all knowledge should be preserved. But that's a horrific policy to follow. According to that policy, knowledge on how to skin little children in the most horrible and agonizing way possible, should be preserved, simply because it's knowledge. Certain things don't need to be remembered and are better forgotten. Keeping that knowledge alive only creates temptation. Which is why I destroyed it."

"There's actually a book like that at the bardic college oddly enough. It's more for the fact that we learn so much that sometimes we take up position where that knowledge would be useful... Not in that way mind you. We had this guard back in Lancton that spent all his time in the college turns out he went there. He was a guard and in charge of solving weird crimes. See if some of the horrible knowledge wasn't kept he couldn't have been so good at what he did. Too bad the last one he was doing got him killed."
Rin smiles and holds a claw out for Serinda to take.
"Still I suppose that knowledge can stay in the hands of mages alone. Now how are your wounds? Can I take a look?"

(glad you brought that up Rin ! Current hit points of damage that everyone is "down" right now - this is the number of hit points each PC has lost, not the actual number of hit points each PC has when fully healed up ... bear in mind Udyr's "at will" ability to heal hit points of damage type feat only works when you're at less than 1/2 of your full hit points.. Udyr knows this of course just reminding everyone else
Zane - down 29 hit points Serinda - down 10 hit points Udyr - down 13 hit points Rin - down 34 hit points Draug - down 21 hit points
Also some general comments here folks , darkalloy PM'ed me about this.. as you probably noticed by now the foes you fought were MUCH tougher than normal this time ... I don't mind power-gaming but given how powerful the PC's are right now from time to time they'll be facing equally powerful foes or potentially foes that are even more powerful than them - you DO get XP for fighting these foes and for making the smart choice to get the heck out of there , not the full XP you'd get for defeating them but you do get some for your (literal in the PC's case ) pains ... of course you also get xp for accomplishing mission goals like getting closer to finding the mountain home of the dwarves and protecting refugees in general and so forth ... Rin didn't ask about XP mind you but thought I'd throw that in there too ... Also as an OOC comment in case anyone's thinking the PC's are going to die real soon - you've gotten past the worst of the damage-dealing type monsters and traps , the rest tends to be more potentially annoyance-type traps.. unless you decide to pick a fight with the final major NPC you encounter that is ) ...

(*Rolls up a newspaper then swats Draug and Udyr on the nose.* No bad! And Zane I'll tell Luarana if you get us killed.)

(as in swatting a dog or other misbehaving animal with a newspaper like they do on modern earth (given their tendency to shift into animal forms) got it - took me a few seconds to figure it out )

"There are other ways to solve such crimes, better ways. There's always an alternative."
She cringes slightly and looks down at her own stomach, letting out a pained sigh.
"I think some of my insides got scrambled and re-assembled in the wrong way..."

Places a hand on Serinda's shoulder as a worried look crosses his face.
"Maybe, I'm not sure how well this healing stuff works for large wounds like that. Maybe when we get to Thorbardin if it still exists they'll have some tea. That should settle your stomach, in the mean time... I do have ale... Might not really help but if you drink enough you won't care about the pain. I could also try some other things... Not sure how they would work though."

Serinda grimaces and shakes her head.
"That doesn't sound all that reassuring, i'd rather not be the subject of some new magic experiment, before you know it, all my hair is replaced by feathers or something... or worse.."

"Wasn't going to be magic.... Well I mean I'd use magic to prepare... heat up some water mainly."

Serinda takes a deep breath, and cringes as she does so, then glances sideways towards Rin.
"I really don't think this is the proper time for a hot bath."

"Wasn't thinking of a bath... Not really sure what I was thinking of to be honest... Still a hot bath may help. Maybe after this, I'll see if I can get you one."
Rin smiles and sighs at the same time.
"Just try not to get hurt for a little while. If you need to stay behind me, let me take the hits."

Serinda can't help but laugh slightly, which in turn makes her cringe and hold her wounds.
"You make it sound like I go out of my way to get eaten or shot or stabbed by things... I'd rather none of us suffer that fate actually.."
