SO, with grappling skills I took I can effectively use someone as a human shield. This is achieved with the "one-armed Headlock" grappling maneuver. So according to D&D core rules: This counts as 75% cover (technically all around as 3.0/3.5 eliminated facing rules, but I'd settle for just the front since it's fairly OP if we don't). SO if I use the one-armed headlock a-la Errol Flynn's Robin Hood and continue fighting (which the skill states only i take a -2 to continue the grapple which is a free action to check it and I can continue fighting), I can effectively use a human tower shield. If you want me to Andre I can look up the rules on cover and such.
Basically here's the formula: Free action to Drop shield Grapple Check to apply One Armed Headlock or grapple check to use the puppeteer maneuver so I can control them not attack me. Successful I effectively have the guy as a human shield granting 75% front cover against melee. Against ranged it's 75% cover front and a -4 to hit for firing into melee.
I can justify that Eolaer would do/know how to do this given his past as a mercenary and such.

I totally love this, will really add flavor to it in the RP'ing sense ! And as you noticed this past fight your enemies are tough so I'm not worried about the game balance aspect of it - sure go for it
