The heroes fought Galang, a truly ugly hobgoblin monk , who inflicted a fair amount of damage on them readily breaking limbs and legs before the heroes forced him to retreat, Galang swearing revenge (he dimension doored away from them as monks are prone to do sometimes) ... Galang appeared to know exactly who Rin and Serinda were - no doubt informed by Rin and Serinda's former associates now turned enemies, Sangrias and Azcot (though Zane and Draug were unfamiliar to the hobgoblin)... the heroes also killed Galang's lowly hobgoblin soldiers...
By doing so they were able to rescue the final group of human prisoners, a group of women held captive in a part of the fortress kept secret from the other human refugees, a final "safeguard" by the dragonarmy to force the captured male human slaves to slave away mining metal for the dragonarmies. Said humans used to live in the cities, villages and plains surrounding Pax Tharkas until they were captured by the dragonarmies and brought back to the abandoned fortress of Pax Tharkas. (Some humans were also molested, eaten - or even worst yet molested THEN eaten - by their captors)
Given that the number of human slaves outnumbered the number of draconian.. and kenku (other bird-men of the same race as Rin ) ... captors , the moment the heroes let the human slaves know their wives and children were no longer being kept hostage the human slaves were able to overwhelm their captors... however Adrienne
(for a description of Adrienne - and why killing her may result in future disasters for the world of Krynn - see

Azcot and Sangrias made their appearance intent on attacking the heroes... Rin kept Adrienne busy , convincing her for the most part to stay out of the fight , promising her that the bird man would use the brand of magic he practices.. the wild primal "chaos " or " wild " magic unknown for thousands of years in the world until now (dm's note - basically arcane magic cast the way a sorcerer would not a wizard ... unfortunately said magic is somewhat uncontrolled and can have unfortunate side effects ) ... to find and return her beloved Eolaer to her.. satisfied with Rin's promise Adrienne then vanished.
In the meantime the other heroes fought Sangrias and Azcot... Azcot was intent on tearing Rin limb from limb until Rin successfully convinced Azcot that killing Rin would unleash wild magical effects Rin had previously prepared that would kill Azcot .. a frustrated Azcot then chose to vent his rage on the other heroes.. Sangrias promised to kill Serinda but was unable to do so after Draug tore Sangrias limb from limb (revealing to the others in the process that Draug was, in fact , a werewolf) then ate Sangrias.... Azcot, nearly insane with rage and grief, confronted Serinda demanding to know why someone who had once loved Azcot the way Serinda had didn't leave abandon the heroes to serve in the dragonarmies as Azcot had ... demanded to know why Serinda hadn't "stood up for him" before when Azcot had fought alongside the other heroes.. in tears Serinda was unable to bring herself to fight back even after Azcot ripped his talons through tender flesh.. the sight of a woman being injured this way enraged Zane to the point where Zane's true nature finally revealed itself - Zane appears to be not human (as his visage is most of the time unless he gets upset) but rather some half-dragon half man crossbreed with scales of gold. Zane shot Azcot full of arrows.. as Azcot lie there dying Rin healed Azcot enough to save the red dragon-man from death (but still leaving Azcot unconscious).
Serinda found herself once again in possession of one of the spellbooks of Fistaldanius, dark robed (evil) mage, one of ( if not the) most powerful and accomplished wizards of all time despite Serinda's attempt to leave it behind - apparently the book is now following her ... the triumphant heroes led the refugees away knowing that the dragonarmies had left only a skeleton force (figuratively not literally) of soldiers behind... the main bulk of the dragonarmies, perhaps 10,000 (ten thousand) strong would soon return to the fortress and would no doubt give chase upon their return.. the heroes now have 1500 human refugees on their hands ... and, it seems, the problem of trying to find somewhere the human refugees will be safe from the pursuing dragonarmies.
