This is the magical blade that used to belong to Kith-Kanan , founder of the Qualinesti nation of elves, found on his skeletal corpse in the crypts underneath the fortress of Pax Tharkas.. the same sword that gives off a loud buzz when it comes within 30 feet of a true dragon... currently Serinda is holding it ..
Surprisingly enough Gilthanas hasn't asked Serinda for it (maybe he's too frightened of her? ) .. Laurana , Gilthanas's brother, elven princess and daughter of the current ruler of the Qualinost elves (the Speaker of the Sun) has made it clear to Serinda it's "on loan" to Serinda and has requested Serinda return it to the Qualinesti elves after the war is over .. having said that she doesn't seem to object to Serinda wielding it (no doubt due to the fact that Serinda and the other PC's rescued Laurana from a fate worse than death - having Ember the red dragon " play" with Laurana before eating her) .. if Serinda (who would be familiar with the history of the blade - see below) angrily insists that the sword is supposed to go to the Silvanesti instead after the war feel free to let me know in which case a forum RP thread between two angry elven women will develop
Forged by the Silvanesti during the Age of Dreams for use
in the early Dragon Wars, the blade known as Wyrmslayer
is kin to the blade Wyrmsbane. The longsword is of elven
design, with elegant elven script etched into the blade. The
crosspiece of the blade bears the distinctive likeness of an
eagle’s beak.
Like its twin, Wyrmsbane, Wyrmslayer was a weapon
held by the Silvanesti royal family, until it was given to
Kith-Kanan before the Kinslayer War. It left the Silvanesti
when Kith-Kanan departed to found the Qualinesti, and
was buried with the king upon his death. The sword
remained buried, and forgotten until the Heroes of the
Lance visited Kith-Kanan’s tomb near Pax Thrakas
Wyrmslayer is a +3 dragon bane longsword that grants
the wielder a +3 resistance bonus against the breath
weapon, spells, and spell-like abilities of all dragons.
When it passes within 30-feet of a true dragon, even if the
dragon is polymorphed, it begins to buzz loudly, alerting
its wearer. The noise is loud enough to be heard
by—and awaken— dragons within 300 feet.
The sword does not react (buzz) in the presence of
draconians, Zane, Azcot, any other dragonspawn or half-dragons, or dragon turtles.
Although as of today's "real world" date (July 3rd 2011) Serinda doesn't know this "in character" yet , she may discover in future FG game sessions (if she uses the sword against them) that the sword provides the same bonuses to attack and damage when used against draconians (or theoretically Zane or Azcot ) ...
