At some point I'm going to have everyone roll up a secondary character... kind of complicated to explain but long story short a while from now in the future (two modules - many FG game sessions - from now) there will be two "paths" you can follow .. both paths take place at the same time in "game time" and it's impossible for a PC to be in two places at once so you'll roll up a new PC then decide if you want to play your new PC or your current PC first ... after completing 3 or 4 modules on the one path you'll go on to the second path and switch to a new PC .. again this is many FG game sessions from now... At that point you will have the option, if the magic items in the Dungeon Master's guide or other WOTC sourcebooks don't suit you, of making your own magic items per the rules described in the dungeon master's guide (in version 3.5 of the DMG it's on pages 282-288 ) .. even if you're not an arcane spellcaster (assume some wizard made the magic item on his or her own that you came across or bought or what not ) ... you'd have to run the new magic item by me for approval but more than likely I'll say yes .... an example item is the one darkalloy came up with for his backup PC : (darkalloy sez) boot's with a continuous exped retreat effect. So yes it's a new item but no different than if some one was to make say a ring of grease. Math for the price, exped retreat 1st level spellx 2000 stl/gp x 2 for 1min/level duration= 4000 steel pieces ("gold pieces")

So let's say I decide to make a set of clothes that confer a +7 to hide and a +5 to move silently.. Per the rules the set of clothes would cost..
(7*7*100*2+5*5*100)x1.5 for a total of 24,600? Skill Bonus Squared x 100 + Skill Bonus Squared x 100. In this case the larger of the two bonuses would be multiplied by 2. And since the entire thing is a set of clothes and not in a specific slot that cost would be multiplied by 2. Let me know if my math is right there..
Then again if you consider pants and shirt to be seperate then the entire thing is moot and the cost would be a straight Skill Bonus Squared x 100 x 1.5 for each piece of clothing..

Well lets use the boots of elvenkind as an example , that can be considered clothing .. if you modify it to be something other than boots as far as being some different kind of clothing item (which is totally fine ) , it gives a +5 to move silently and costs 2500 gp so that would be "part 1" of the cost. www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#cloakofElvenkind This link www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/creatingMagicItems.htm" Table: Summary of Magic Item Creation Costs" sez that for wonderous items (which I'd consider the clothing to be) , sez the x50 for material costs applies only for spells activated by the magic item where said spell requires material or xp components .. the magic items confer skill bonuses but do not duplicate the effects of a spell so we can ignore this part .. part two below that "Table: Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values" sez bonus squared times 100 gp (or in the world of Krynn steel pieces) and gives a cloak of elvenkind as an example.. cloak of elvenkind gives a +5 bonus, 5 squared is 25, 25 times 100 is 2500 gp , which is the default cost listed for a cloak of elvenkind So the +7 to hide.. 7 x 7 equals 49... 49 times 100 equals 4,900 gp for the bonus to hide rolls. The cheapest thing to do in order to avoid the "multiply different abilities" penalty of 1.5 times the gp cost is to make it a shirt of hiding and pants of moving silently (or visa versa) to avoid the penalty entirely .. So basically add 2500 gp (for the move silently bonus) to 4900 gp (for the hide bonus) to get 7,400 gp total for the cost of magic clothes that give you a bonus to your hide and move silently rolls as long as you're wearing said clothes - that is no "charges" or "number of times usable per day" or anything funky like that , they just give you that bonus all the time .. if you throw something in like "charges per day" or " only has 50 charges then runs out completely" it lowers the cost still further (see the " Table: Estimating Magic Item Gold Piece Values" at the link given above then look at the "special- charges per day" and "special- charged (50 charges) section, basically if you choose one of those limitations you divide your gp cost by the amount listed to further reduce the gp cost). But basically 7,400 gp total
