Going through the chat logs here so I can award XP and RP points and came across another reference that falls under the "knowledge-nature" category... here's another reprint from the Aug 2nd FG game session
DM: There are bogs you'll have to travel through that surround
Skullcap - clouds of vapor rise from the warm surface of these
marshes, filling the area with a thick, chilling fog. Tall
brown reeds clog the landscape, blocking sight any farther
than a few dozen feet.
Zane hops off of his hrose and takes a closer look, pushing throught the reeds.
Udyr stops at the edge of the fog, then quickly shifts into the form of an eagle and flies above the fog.
Rin looks around as they get to the bog. "Huh you know I expcected somethign more.... foreboding."
Serinda simply keeps quiet while they travel through the fog, trying to keep her ears open for any sounds, with visibility so limited.
Draug: "Anyone see marshmallow? Draug hear you find marshmallow in bog?"
Rin looks to Draug. "What the hell is a marshmallow?"
Draug: "I hear it bigh white puffy thing maybe sweet too." Draug licks his lips
So, this prompted me to look up marshmellow plants - here's what I found
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Althaea_officinalis
It mentions that " A confection made from the root since ancient Egyptian time evolved into today's marshmallow treat." .. and it also mentions that " The later French version of the recipe, called pâté de guimauve (or "guimauve" for short), included an eggwhite meringue and was often flavored with rose water. Pâté de guimauve more closely resembles contemporary commercially available marshmallows... "
Given that the marshes surrouding skullcap are, oddly, warm and not covered with ice and snow unlike the rest of the mountains... I'm going to say that YES, as a matter of fact if he chooses to Draug was in fact able to grab some marshmellow plants... if Draug likes he can assume he was traveling with some rose water in a "freebie" small (zero weight) animal-hide flask type thing his fellow kagonesti gave him before he left (assume zero cost) - the kagonesti splash it on themselves like a cologne to smell nice ... so all Draug needs now is the egg.. and you ARE traveling with a bird-man ... Draug has heard (though he hasn't tried it yet - the kagonesti elves didn't seem too keen on the thought of eating it though the kagonesti heard the recipe from someone who heard it it from someone else, that's how Draug found out about it ) that this marshmellow-rosewater-egg mixture is delicious eaten warm and gooey after being roasted on a fire ... and you do have at least one PC who can produce flame easily enough (looks at Zane - Udyr too if it's a non-combat day and he has the flame spells to spare for that matter ) .. Assume Zane and Udyr are also aware of this use of the marshmellow plant given that , like Draug, they also have enough skill levels in knowledge-nature. As Rin mentioned above in the chat log however Rin and Serinda wouldn't have any idea what a " marshmellow" is (not enough ranks in knowledge-nature )
See here also for where else you can find marshmellow plants (for game purposes same areas you can find rosemary and lavender plants , or any other plants for that matter Draug, Zane and / or Udyr might want to dig up and use for RP purposes )..
