I should have posted this a while ago in the house rules my apologies.. I forgot that our roster of players has changed such that newer players may not be familiar with the "older history" of the campaign.. solardawn and darkalloy I already PM'ed you on this but see also the very last paragraph of this thread, there's stuff there I forgot to mention to you in my PM ..
WAAAAAYYY back when, before Zane and Udyr's time , there was an FG game sesion a long time ago .. someone took a swing at the Harvester devil.. their weapon passed right though the Harvester devil as if it wasn't there and the Harvester then proceeded to gloat about how , since the demons and devils haven't entered the dragonarmy war on the side of Takhisis to physically attack anyone yet, the angels likewise cannot attack anyone either ... not sure but I think both Adam and Serinda was there for that speech on the Harvester's part? ..later on solardawn sent me a PM asking what would happen if Serinda summoned an angel and I responded that the angels really aren't able to fight in the war since their demonic/devil counterparts are not.. I should have been more specific ... when I say " angel" I mean not only anything listed as "angel" in the monster manuals but also any celestials, any archons - any spiritual type beings that reside in the upper planes - are bound by the same non-involvement contract ..
Of course being evil beings ,people like the Harvester are going to respect the "letter of the law" and not the spirit .. The Harvester spends a lot of time whispering in people's ears and spreading information and trying to tempt people and so forth.. but he doesn't actually use any of his magical/spiritual powers to aid the bad guys however .. for example he wouldn't sit there smugly in the middle of combat and use some sort of "protection from good" aura emanating from him to help his bad guy buddies out when the PC's are fighting dragonarmy forces .. something that blatant is simply against the rules for him ..
(here's the new info for darkalloy and solardawn too).. Darkalloy was wondering why I'd let someone play a hound archon then if the higher powers type people aren't supposed to be involved.. put it this way - if someone falls in love with a character concept and it just happens to involve playing an angel or celestial or archon or what not, I'd really hate to squash a good character concept like that.. I'd treat such a PC as someone who was actively rebelling against the "rules" already established for the higher power type persons and their devil/demon counterparts.. but generally speaking they tend to follow the rules given above.. persons with mortal blood in them (Adam, other half-demon, half devil or half fiend PC's we'll possibly be seeing in upcoming FG game sessions ) are not considered to be "bound" by these rules and can act freely ... If you summon some type of animal that's celestial or fiendish they're considered to have enough "mortal blood" in them to be considered an exception to the rules - basically persons of mortal stock or enhanced mortal animals are not considered powerful enough to "upset the balance" so to speak ... so as far as summoning spells summoning say a celestial dire bear is fine for example.. summoning an actual celestial will only get you an apologetic celestial who explains the rules he's currently bound by and then vanishes.
So basically consider this a "house rule" in this campaign - and again apologies should have made this clear to both Zane and Udyr earlier on..
