This is something I learned from the "school of hard knocks" when I was running this campaign in the old days.. again not the player in question's fault who had multiple teleport spells memorized , rather it was my fault as a DM for not knowing in advance what impact it would have on the campaign ...
Basically, a PC being able to teleport more than once per day (through whatever means, magic spells, magic item or what not) will create problems in this campaign .. as a house rule I have to limit it to one teleport per day UNLESS you're using the spell or ability as a short range teleport to get yourself out of danger , which is fine. Basically being able to use teleport as a quick and easy means to get yourself and the entire group of PC 's from one point to the other over long distances makes it a little bit "too" quick and easy to the point where it messes up this particular campaign as a whole .. or to put it another way if PC's aren't walking, going on horseback, going by boat et cetera from point A to point B it creates problems with this particular campaign - I apologize in advance ...
Also as far as teleporting yourself by yourself to deal with a particular problem and leaving everyone else behind... this is something I will go into more detail about in another thread but.. unusual as this sounds, as a DM I am REALLY uncomfortable with situations where I spend a long amount of time whispering " Ok then this happens" to a single PC while the other players sit around twiddling their thumbs patiently waiting... basically I feel it's unfair to the group as a whole ... if your PC wants to go off by themselves that's fine but 1) I'll probably end up handling what happens to that individual PC on the RP forums after that night's FG game session is over and 2) the effect your PC will have on the campaign as a whole will be limited since more than likely the rest of the PC's will have already set up a course of events - I can't alter history because of the one PC's actions when the other PC's have already set X, Y and Z into motion ... unusual declaration on my part as a DM I know but I've sat through one too many FG game sessions of this nature as a player in other campaigns, where a single player dominates pretty much the entire FG game session, not on purpose I'm sure but that's what ends up happening.. I don't ask things of players I'm unwilling to do myself ... I personally would consider it to be a selfish thing to do to the group as a whole and have never done the "I go off and do my own thing tell me what happens next DM " thing myself ... each DM has their own style so that's pretty much my own - friendly warning in advance.
